Lanzarote holiday villas - how do i choose which one

Lanzarote is the perfect island destination for that holiday in the sun and is ideal for self catering holidays with hundreds of lovely holiday villas to choose from. But how do you choose which one?

Firstly, you need to choose which resort youґd like to stay in. There are 3 main resorts – Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca. Each has its own character and attractions. Puerto del Carmen is the largest and busiest resort with 6 kilometres of sandy beaches and a long promenade lined with many shops, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs. Costa Teguise is a little smaller and is a family resort with beaches, shopping centres, cafes and restaurants. Playa Blanca is the newest resort and is a little bit more laid back and quieter with seafront cafes and restaurants, upmarket shops and a stunning new marina. In addition there are typical whitewashed Canarian villages inland such as Tias and Nazaret, suitable for those who like a relaxing holiday away from it all.

Having chosen your place to stay, you now have to find a villa. Most villas have private pools, so if you are coming to the island in winter, make sure the pool is heated, preferably electrically, as unheated pools will be rather cold. Your main criteria will be your budget of course. Villas in Puerto del Carmen with private pools tend to be a bit more expensive as most of them are 3 bedroom, behind the main strip and are therefore within walking distance of the beach and amenities. Exclusive areas like Los Mojones can be quite expensive. Costa Teguise has fewer villas and they tend to be a little bit less expensive.

By far the greatest choice of villas is in Playa Blanca where you can rent a 2 bedroom villa without a private pool for about Ј300 a week in the low season and about Ј600 a week in peak season for a villa with a private pool, and a 4 bedroom villa for up to Ј1300 a week in peak season. Playa Blanca is quite a sprawling resort and generally speaking the closer you are to the resort centre and beaches, the higher the price you will pay. With a lot of villas, a hire car will be necessary as a lot of the developments are on the outskirts of the resorts. Prices for villas inland will be a bit cheaper and many offer spectacular views.

Knowing your budget and being clear on your priorities, you can now search for your villa. By far the most popular way is on the internet by putting such phrases as “Villas in Lanzarote” and “Luxury Villas Lanzarote” into search engines. There are also magazines like Private Villas available in most high street newsagents and in supermarkets. You have the choice of buying a package or villa only from a large villa agent or renting direct from the owner through the many private rental websites. Normally prices are cheaper renting a villa from a private owner, and often the standard of accommodation is higher, as the private owner has more incentive to please, wanting you to come back again next year. Once you have maybe picked out a few villas you think may be suitable for you, donґt hesitate to ask questions about the villa and the area before deciding.

Good luck and have a happy holiday in Lanzarote!

The geriatric older dog

:
Dogs mature and age at much different rates, usually according to size and breed. It is commonly held that dogs live 7 years for every year that we man does. However, this serve as only a rough guide when converting and calculating your dog’s age as dogs grow up very rapidly in their early years and then slow down.

For example, a 1 year old dog is comparable to a 15 year old kid, at age 6, he is comparable to 40 years old in human terms. By 12, it is consider a geriatric dog and is equivalent to an 80 year old man.

It is generally believed that the smaller the dog breeds, the longer they live. Small breeds such as Terrier and Poodle may not slow down until 13 or 14 and could live to 17. On the other hand, larger breeds such as Great Dane and Wolfhounds rarely live pass 9 years.

Diet
A healthy diet for the older dog should be senior food that are formulated with low in fat and salt for a healthy heart, lower calories to help combat obesity since they are less active, lower protein to help the kidneys and liver, and higher fiber for the bowels to prevent constipation.

A switch to a specially formulated commercial diet for the older dog will usually perk him up. If you have no clues about your older dog’s diet, you should consult your vet for advice.

Medical attention
You’ll probably find that your older dog needs more medical attention than before because this is the time where age-related problems start to kick in. If possible, try to make more than just an annual visit to the vet and keep vaccinations up to date. A yearly geriatric screen, including blood and x-ray would also be useful to keep a closer eye on his health.

Patience
Patience is a key factor on your part when you deal with your beloved dog as he grows older. More often than not, he will develop age related problems such as tooth decay, periodontal diseases, vision impairment, hearing loss and also less active than before.

In any case, try to give them more time and understanding because they are not in their prime anymore. With enough love and care, older dogs can still continue their enjoyment of life well into old age.

Take good care of me when I get old. Someday you will be as old as me and you will see how it feels. ~ unknown dog

Adjustable bed for ideal position while sleeping or sitting

An ideal position while sleeping or sitting is one where your body muscles are not under tension resulting in complete relaxation. This position can be achieved where the legs and the upper back are slightly on a raised level which distributes the body weight in harmony with gravity. It is here that an adjustable double bed will be highly beneficial as a flat bed will not ease your body tension completely leading to tossing and turning. An adjustable double bed will allow you to sleep and relax in any position that you desire with over 1000 positions to choose from for purposes ranging from sleeping, reading, watching TV, eating or for pure relaxation.

Your daily beauty sleep will not be complete if any of the following four factors namely light, noise, and temperature and of course the bed that you are sleeping on are not up to the desired level. While you may adjust the other three factors according to your desired comfort you won’t be able to do that with the bed unless you have an adjustable bed. Just what you may wonder is an adjustable bed and why would you really need it when you have been sleeping on flat beds all your life. First and foremost you will need to know the ideal positions that our body is naturally accustomed to and the way we abuse it continuously both consciously and unconsciously while not only sleeping but also while sitting and performing any task.

An adjustable double bed comes in two basic types’ latex foam and Innerspring and both types offer the same comfort in different ways. An adjustable bed is highly recommended for people suffering from back pain, poor blood circulation especially in the legs and night time heart burn or acidity. All these problems can be solved with an adjustable bed which would elevate your upper body in the desired angle thus freeing you from circulation and digestion related complications as compared to a flat bed.

An adjustable bed generally comes in a steel frame with riveted joints and a bottom frame that supports the bed completely with special massaging (dual wave) motors. An adjustable bed uses the latest technology in the matter of mattresses like visco memory foam and high density foam that will make you feel as if you are sleeping on air. An adjustable bed can be lowered to as low as 15 inches suitable for children and disabled people.

An adjustable bed is available in single as well as double bed models along with manual, semi-electric and electric controls. The massage options involve different kinds of massages at different speeds with powerful but quiet motors where you can lie down and relax completely from the daily stressful experiences. An adjustable bed comes with a guarantee regarding its various components and is tested for long life and reliability. So check out an adjustable double bed at the earliest and the ultimate sleeping experience is yours along with freedom from tension and stress helping you wake up refreshed each day.

Should i buy a second hand car at auction

While it is possible to get a great deal and a bargain car at an auction, buying a used car this way isn’t always the ideal way to buy a car, there are better ways.

If it is your first time of buying a used car or you know very little about cars, then buying from an auction isn’t advisable. Perhaps the biggest problem with purchasing a car from an auction is the fact that that you have very little cover to fall back on if there should be any problem with the car. This is usually due to the auction house issuing a disclaimer, which many do, which states something such as “sold as seen”.

While many goods are covered by the Sale of Goods Act, some of the cleverer auction houses can get around this by altering the conditions of the sale by taking away the buyers rights under the Act.

If you do wish to purchase a car from an auction then it is advisable to visit an auction house several times before actually deciding to bid on a car. This way you can get used to the terminology used and the way auction houses work. It is also advisable to take someone with you who knows something about cars when you do decide to buy.

Most auction houses will hold preview days where you look at the car up for auction prior to bidding. This will give you a good chance to have a look at the vehicle.

You would be wise to consider having a vehicle data check done, which is a service that checks a vehicle’s history. It will show up really valuable things such as whether the car has been stolen, or the mileage tampered with etc.

Finally, it is essential that you know your spending limit. Don’t ever be tempted to go over that limit no matter how good a deal something may seem.

Web designing is your website doing business

Web designing is an important factor for people doing business online. Online business is happening everywhere and almost everybody is doing it these days. However simply having a beautiful website will not deliver you what you are looking for. Web designing is the amalgamation of different components. A recent study conducted by a leading research agency shows that these days more and more people come to internet for business purpose. To deliver results to customers you must have a website that caters to all their requirements.

Designing a website is a complex process involving many elements. However if a professional undertakes this work it becomes very simple for you. There are many professionals who will do the work for you for a certain amount of fee. It is advisable to leave the designing part to a professional. Before embarking on designing the website make sure that you know what exactly you are looking for. This will help you in giving a clear picture of your requirements to the pro.

Hiring a pro to do your work is a fantastic way of going about designing a website. Decide on a theme. It may be anything a color, a photograph, a logo or an image. Make use of it throughout the website. Keep a constant tab on the progress of the work done on your website. Your website must be very appealing and visually pleasing for the visitors. Take note that your site contains images and visuals which moves, flashes and talks to visitors online. This is a sure shot way of grabbing attention. Ensure that the contents in your site are regularly updated.

Have plenty of templates in your website. Templates are cheap and look very good in a website. A photograph speaks a thousand words. Add proper photographs in the right places. Photo editor can be used to make the required alterations in the photographs. You must take note that the photographs used in the site complements with the goods in which your company is dealing. Make use of proper color coordination to make your site visually appealing.

Include a site map in your website. Using site map is the surest way of keeping a website organized. Your website must be easily accessible to the visitors. With so much of competition in this field no one will go for a time consuming search to get what they are looking for. Make sure everything is properly displayed in the proper places. Another important factor which you must take note of is the target audience of your site. This is vital in determining the look of your site.

It is important look after your site properly. Check regularly to see if the information in your site is regularly updated or not. Test out to see if the links in your site are properly working or not. There is nothing more annoying than broken links to a visitor of a website.

Weight loss tip 3 moderate drinking may help you with weight loss

:
The connection between moderate drinking and avoiding heart disease is pretty much old news to most of us at this point.

But now, experts are saying that those of us who have 1-2 drinks a few times a week are less likely to become obese than non drinkers.

Finally! A Weight Loss "Do and Don't" that we can have some fun with!

Not too much fun though.

Those of us who consume 4 or more drinks daily are a whopping 46% more likely to be obese, research says. The connection between moderate drinking and avoiding heart disease is pretty much old news to most of us at this point.

This new information was based on a study of over 8,000 people conducted by Dr. James Rohrer of the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Ahmed Arif, from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

"We don't want to give people the wrong impression"...says Rohrer..."We certainly don't want to recommend that nondrinkers become drinkers just to control their weight".

If you're a non-drinker---don't panic.

The odds for moderate drinkers are only .73% better than nondrinkers for staying thin. The main message here is that a few drinks consumed socially isn't anything to worry about if that's your M. O.

Some experts don't completely agree with these findings. Dr. David L. Katz, Director of Yale University's Prevention Research Center, says that the slight reduciton in obesity risk may very well be attributed to additional healthy behaviors unrelated to drinking.

"Many health-conscious people have a daily drink because of the widely touted health benefits; it may be a constellation of behaviors in such people that lead to weight control"...says Katz..."This would produce the appearance of a weight-control benefit from moderate drinking, but it would be illusory."

Well here's my 2 cents on the matter:

As mentioned above, I feel that the primary takeaway from this research is that responsible, moderate drinkers need not be alarmed at the implications of drinking on their weight loss.

Though the overall trend presented here makes sense to me, I am a slight bit skeptical of the percentages given for risk levels.

My suspiscion comes from the fact that body mass index, or BMI, was used as a measure of obesity. As I mention in my program, BMI is not the best determination of true obesity. Its measurements, though useful, are not accurate enough to be followed to the letter---certainly not for coming up with percentages in a medical research study.

So if you choose to drink, do it moderately and responsibly. And if you don't choose to do so, that's o. k. too. WHATEVER you choose to do, make sure you're eating right and exercising daily!

The tempur pillow is always with me

I got to tell that the first times my golfing friends laughed when they saw me with the Tempur pillow under my arm. I gave them my biggest smile and started to answer their ironic comments and questions. You know “what a comfort for you, my little friend”. Many good laughs there. Now a couple of them bring their own pillows!

We are a small group of enthusiastic golfers and a couple of times per year we take a weekend off and leave for some place to play golf, enjoy the leave and our own company. If you have done that or just stayed in hotels or vacation rentals of any kind, you know what kind of mattresses and pillows there are.

In some european countries they also have these three feet long sausage-like pillows. Some too hard, you almost break your neck, and some so soft that it will not even work if you manage to double-fold it.

The mattress is of course too big to bring on a vacation but the Tempur pillow is easy to bring. Itґs smaller than an ordinary pillow and I just take it in a bag. The pillow is most important to me, I sleep great when I use it and not too great without it. It makes a big difference.

It was in the early 90ґs when I first learned about Tempur. A physiotherapist that trained our group in the pool showed us. After one of the training sessions one of the guys was complaining about how bad he used to sleep and our trainer asked him to try the mattress and pillow she had in the treatment room.

Some of us tried it for a couple of minutes and yes, perhaps this could be something for us. I bought it a couple of months later. Both a pillow and a mattress. UPS delivered and the mattress had to ”stretch out” a couple of hours before I could use it. I could hardly wait to try it and used it the same first night.

I remember that the first couple of nights felt unusual. The Tempur mattress is just like heaven, I could sleep much longer before I had to turn to the other side and there were no pressure on knees and hips any more.

Earlier that kind of pressure made me use a thin extra pillow that I could have under or between my legs. Perhaps you have had that kind of experience too and it doesnґt matter if you are thin or fat. Now itґs really a relief to sleep better, wake up and just feel relaxed and great.

The Tempur pillow took me a couple of nights to get used to. I have to admit that, and I think the reason was that it seem to be too small. It is not. The form is perfect to give your head the right balance and itґs in different sizes now, which is great as we are not all of the same size over the shoulders. After some time I also learned to turn the pillow in the mornings so I then sleep on the lower part. Guess that can have to do with the fact that Iґm more relaxed and my shoulders not tense at all.

I have used these products for more than twelve years now and also bought one more pillow. Needless to say, but I will stick to Tempur for the rest of my life.
