Timing in goal-setting

When most of us set goals, we hold an expectation that everything will work out as planned. We have this picture in our minds of a smooth process from start to finish, easily achieving our goals without a hitch. This is especially true when it comes to the timing of our desired results!

Let's face it; we wouldn't be setting goals in the first place if we didn't believe they were possible to achieve. Even if we expect a fair amount of difficulty in reaching our goals, we usually don't expect to encounter major delays and setbacks.

Early in the game an optimistic mind-set can be a strong benefit because it gives us high confidence and strength to push through any preliminary obstacles that appear before us.

However, as more and more time passes and our desired results aren't showing up - or worse, we continue to experience problem after problem, our determination begins to wane. We wonder what we've gotten ourselves into. We wonder if we were crazy to think we could accomplish something so difficult!

Most importantly, we forget that there is one little aspect to any goal that is often beyond our control: timing.

As much as we might like our results to show up quickly and easily, that is not always how it happens. When we find ourselves stuck, we have three choices: We can strengthen our focus and put forth a stronger quality of energy toward our desired outcome; we can build up our resolve to work through obstacles more persistently, or we can wait patiently for the timing to be exactly right.

That last one is the stickler! We don't like to feel out of control, especially where our own lives are concerned. We don't like feeling that there is some mysterious "force out there" controlling what happens to us.

There is no easy answer for why results don't appear when we expect them to. Each situation is different, as is each goal and the person setting it.

When this happens to you, the important question to ask is not WHY it happens but what you will do when it does.

Will you shove through obstacles with vicious determination? Will you find an easier path to your goal? Or will you wait patiently for obstacles to dissolve in their own time?

There are no right or wrong answers to these questions; only what you choose for yourself.

Like most people, you may find that certain outcomes cannot be rushed. No matter how hard you push, you will not be able to move forward until the timing is right.

In situations like these, hindsight usually reveals clear reasons why you could not move ahead until the timing was exactly right.

Perhaps you needed to wait for the assistance of someone who could provide the right opportunity to move ahead. Maybe you weren't emotionally ready to handle the responsibilities of your desired outcome and once you did some more work on your personal development, all obstacles simply melted away.

There are endless possibilities for why the timing may not be right, but what can you do when you find yourself stuck?

Two of the most beneficial steps have proven to be:

1) Do what you can. Remain open to the possibilities, re-evaluate your plans and see if you can make improvements or adjustments.

2) At the same time, be willing to detach from the exact timing of the outcome. This is not easy, but it can open up many doors for you!

When you let go of trying to force something into being, you automatically decrease the pressure that deadlines place upon you. Because you feel more relaxed, you are better able to focus and awaken your creative thinking process. Through this creative insight, you may accidentally discover the perfect solution to your problem, or at least have more fun exploring possible workarounds.

In the end, the length of time needed to achieve your goals is not nearly as important as the delicious satisfaction you get from seeing them through to the end.

And when that day arrives, you'll believe only one thing: it was well worth the wait.

The power of appreciation - an essential life ingredient

Many people are unaware of the power contained within us to harness a unique force known as the power of appreciation. The power of appreciation enables us to channel our inner most thoughts to overcome any obstacle in our way. We can unleash the power of appreciation so that our lives are free of fear, worry and anxiety. Our lives will become satisfying and the rewards we seek will be manifested and we will start to enjoy every moment of our existence.

Are you getting excited about knowing how to introduce the power of appreciation into your own life? If the answer is a resounding ‘Yes!’ then you should definitely read on.

In reality all of us already possess the power of appreciation but as part of our ‘growing up’ most of us have been taught to concentrate our thoughts on how we go about stopping bad things happening to us. With our focus on the negative area of life we have little life energy left to direct towards attracting the good things into our lives.

The art of being able to fully appreciate the benefits of the power of appreciation begins when we cast away the negativity in our lives, that is, we purposefully stop worrying about all the aspects of our existence that causes us grief. We stop being driven by our desire to improve our floundering personal relationships, our poor financial position and other negative situations.

If we actively direct our mind to focus on the positive aspects of our lives, such as the simple acceptance that we live in a safe environment or own a car that works, can put our mind into the state that it needs to be in for the power of appreciation to be called into action. Look at the positive aspect of your situations rather than the negative and once it becomes second nature, and it will if you foster the concept, you will begin to enjoy the truly magical benefits in your life.

You will become more content with your own being and purpose as well as becoming more understanding of others and their individual circumstances and problems.

At this point it is important to understand that it is impossible to switch on and off this force because it should be seen as a constant feature in our way of life more than the occasional tool to help us when we need support. The key to the power of appreciation is to begin to truly incorporate the concept into our everyday mind set.

Don’t let the simplicity of the power of appreciation fool you, as once embraced it will completely change your life and its direction in the most positive ways imaginable.

Remember, the quality of your life is linked directly to the degree of your commitment to accepting that the power of appreciation is the governing force in your life. You have two distinct options available to you, firstly, you choose to feel depressed and unhappy that your life is not a level you want it to be at. Or secondly, as a contrast, you can choose to find something that you are content and appreciative about and in doing so activate the power of appreciation.

How can you find something to appreciate?” This truly becomes a simple process if you just consider the following statement:

‘I appreciate the food that I eat. I appreciate the sunshine. I appreciate the relationship that I am in. I appreciate the air that I breathe. I appreciate the house that I live in. I appreciate everything in my life.’

Well, you may say “The food that rich people eat is much better than the food that I eat” or “The house that my neighbor lives in is so much more luxuriant than mine”, or “My relationship is dull and boring and lacks the excitement that we once had”. Maybe this is the case, however, it is true only because you have chosen to perceive it that way. You have the ability, through the power of appreciation, to change your perception totally.

For example you are aware that in relation to what you think about the food you are eating there are millions of children through out the world who are starving and would be in awe of what you consider to be a mundane diet.

Think about the relationship that you are in. Do you recall that your partner is always there for you when you need advice and guidance and all the wonderful memories you have shared over the years? Think about how lovely is feels to have a hug from someone that you have experienced so much with, and then realize that there are so many people who don’t have anyone in their life to share their memories with, not alone have the pleasure of a warm embrace.

Instead of focusing on where your relationship is lacking, try focusing on what is great in your relationship and appreciate what your partner has done for you and the wonderful things that you experience. By flipping your focus the Universe will provide you with more things in your relationship to be appreciative of.

Now, to activate the power of appreciation you have to purposely concentrate on holding that positive feeling of appreciation for as long as you possibly can. If you can keep the thought in the forefront of your mind on a regular basis (say 10 or 20 times each day) you are beginning to challenge the way you once thought and instead you are in a position to dramatically change your life for the better. Once it becomes a habit your life will never be the same. You will find yourself full of energy and happiness.

There are always positive and negative aspects to any circumstance in your life. So now, the choice is yours to either focus on the negativities or choose to appreciate the positive aspect of what you have and who you are. By changing your focus you will find a dramatic lift in the quality of your life. As I said earlier don’t let simplicity of this idea fool you, practice invoking the power of appreciation and you will find that miracles will soon begin to occur in your life.

Breaking free from self-limiting habits

'We need to think differently to shift our paradigms

to a new, deeper, "inside-out" level'; Stephen R. Covey

In the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey describes habits as "consistent, often unconscious patterns which constantly, daily express our character and produce our effectiveness, or ineffectiveness".

Who we are and what we become is a direct result of our habits. It is in the realm of habits that our character is born, nurtured and outwardly expressed. What we see from the outside is a direct reflection of those deeply embedded habits that have gradually, steadily and consistently ingrained themselves into our psyche. Our behavior is therefore informed by these habits, which with time become so deeply ingrained into our minds that changing them is like attempting to break mountains with bare hands.

Breaking free from these deeply-embedded habits is a tall order, especially if they have been acquired over a long period of time. The longer it takes to acquire certain habits, the more difficult it is to break them. And this is not necessarily a bad thing; especially if the habits acquired are positive. Positive habits should be encouraged, even developed where they are lacking.

According Mike Bressica, success comes from behaviors, which start out as thoughts. To change your habits or behaviors, you will need to have different thoughts. What occupies your mind; your thoughts; propels you to behave in a certain way. If you don't like the results of your behavior, all you need to do is to change your thoughts. The Bible talks of renewing our mind as a way of transforming ourselves into good, acceptable and perfect people that always seek to do the will of God (Rom 12.2).

Renewing or shifting from our current thoughts to those that we desire brings about transformation or change in our lives. This is what is known as having a paradigm shift; adopting a new way of thinking, of doing things, of behavior.

The good thing about habits is that they are acquired over time through learning, nuances, brainwashing and experiences. Since they are acquired, they can be replaced by changing the thought patterns that fostered them in the first place.

To replace negative, self-limiting thought patterns, which Mike Bressica calls "mental patterns of failure", we must set as a first goal to reduce the impact of these patterns. And this cannot be done overnight. Just as it took time to acquire these mental patterns of failure, it will take time to release them and replace them with 'mental patterns of success'.

Paul talking to the Church in Rome expressed his frustration with his inability to rein in his patterns of failure. It appeared to him that he was fighting a losing battle with his mind as he found himself doing the very evil that he did not want to do; and not doing the good that he wanted to (Romans 7: 19).

Like so many of us, Paul was at a crossroad. On one side lay the old self-limiting patterns of failure; and on the other, his desire to release these negative patterns, which always led him to do evil, and replace them with those that would propel him into a transformed life of doing good.

Highly successful people are those who rid themselves of their patterns of failure by brushing off distractions. When you have no pattern of failure limiting your progress, you are able to overcome temporary setbacks at the thought level. Since the battle for success is won or lost at the thought level, your success or failure in this arena is what makes you successful or unsuccessful. Success comes naturally when you learn how to control your thought patterns. As Bressica says, if you muster the art of thought control, you will not be 'tempted to act opposite to what you know is best. You can keep fear at a minimum. Doubt is nowhere to be found.'

But how do you unlearn limiting thought patterns that you have picked up from childhood? How do you break down inscrutable blocks of negative habits that have been distilled and cemented into your psyche since childhood? To merely tell you to change your paradigm would be as vain as telling a hungry person to be filled without giving him food to eat. What we hear, see, experience or sense has a direct bearing on the formation of our habits; which are informed by thoughts, and which are then acted out in the form of behavior.

Thoughts are the foundation on which our habits are formed. These habits, depending on their nature, in turn inform our actions or behavior; and success or lack of it solely depends on the actions we take. To take that crucial first step in starting your own business, you must first of all unlearn the employee mentality and start seeing yourself as a successful entrepreneur.

But to achieve this paradigm shift is no mean fit. What with years of being told to study hard so that, when you grow up, you will get a good job? To break away from this mold of thinking and start seeing or thinking yourself as a successful business person requires much more than positive affirmations such as 'I can do it'. If 'I can do it' is out of tandem with your thought pattern, then, try as much as you will, you can’t do it.

I believe with all my heart that if you can think it, you can do it. The writer of the Book of Proverbs (23:7) knew this all too well when he said that 'as one thinks in his heart, so is he'. Your thoughts define the kind of person you become. Countless times we blame external circumstances while in reality the core cause of our failure can be found in our thought patterns.

Spring forward - but not so fast

Spring forward: Several weeks ago we disrupted our winter patterns and changed our clocks. Not only was this a seasonal disruption, but by decree it happened earlier in the season than we are accustomed to. What was your reaction? Change the clock and keep on with whatever was on your weekend list? Stop and realize that this was an opportunity to re-think how you spend your day? How many patterns did the simple change of one hour interrupt? Suddenly, dawn was an hour later; was it harder to fit in your morning routine? What did the lighter ‘longer ‘daylight’ offer?

These are the questions (along with many more) I ponder as a life coach. We have adapted to our busy lives by being on autopilot. Sometimes, that is good, no need to rethink the same task over and over, efficiency has its place, My question is: when do we turn off auto pilot and notice where we are and where we want to go, how we want to be? Are we sailing too close to a rocky shore? Can we see the subtle change in the color of the rocks as we pass by? Where do we want to turn our attention next? Do we want to take advantage of the opportunity in front of us? Will they add more to our plate or simplify our day? How do we evaluate the constant input? How much are we tuning out, to what do we tune in? These are the everyday choices we all face. Do we even know we are making them?

Years ago I taught a Continuing Ed course called ‘Questions not Answers’. On the first evening of class, as we were introducing ourselves, one student demanded to know what this class was all about. “Time to reflect” I replied, almost surprised at my own answer, “We no longer have the societal structures for reflection and contemplation that have held other generations”. Many have written volumes on the cultural shift to busy-ness and the constant stimulation most of us experience. I am interested in how we choose to engage with our world. And whether we individually feel ‘at choice’ or on autopilot with no off button in sight.

Often I hear that ‘near miss’ incidents, the death of a friend, a medical diagnosis, are wake up calls to pay attention and ask ourselves the ‘really important’ questions: Where am I going? What am I doing? Do I want to be doing that or ……? And if not, how can I? The thriving self-help book industry is a testament to the fact that more and more people are asking these questions and searching for answers. For years the corporate world has been looking at Values (whether you believe this or not) and Vision and Mission (purpose), but as individuals we have not been offered similar tools for the same kind of clarifying thought process. Some may have access to this inner inquiry through religious affiliation, others through volunteer endeavors. For many, the questions remain. How do I get closer to what a meaningful life would look like for me and how might that benefit the people and causes I care about? Personal values would be this coach’s answer; getting clear on our foundational decision making process. Then, when we want to be on autopilot we have created ‘settings’ that are relevant to us personally, and when we need to be ‘at the helm’ making timely decisions, we have the energy and clarity to do so.

Breaking and remaking patterns calls for commitment. Commitment to look at what is calling to you in your life and then choosing to move in that direction. First, get really clear on what you want and what having it will do for you. In addition to values, another way to gain that clarity is to imagine, with all your senses, what it would be like to already have it and how that would feel (look, taste, etc). The more multi-sensory your imagined outcome, the more drawn you will be to all that it represents. Then, I recommend that you take small and manageable steps; training wheels so to speak. Yes, it would be lovely to commit an hour a day to exercise or journal writing or prayer – is it realistic to start there? Would you embark on marathon without building up to the distance? How about 5 minutes a day or 15 minutes every other day until the desire to continue and the benefits begin to accrue? My guess is that even the busiest of us can make that commitment to ourselves.

My desire for you is that you spring forward with intention to push through the softening ground of your own resistance to a longer, brighter day.

What a personal self-esteem coach can do for you

A personal self-esteem coach can provide an objective perspective sorely needed to see things in a new light, challenge long-held beliefs that have held you back, change the patterns that have kept you stuck and make new choices so that you create and attract success into your life.

Creating a clear direction for your life can be difficult. Old thinking and behavior patterns are persistent. Your coach can help you recognize and replace these old patterns with new ideas and strategies which serve you and clear the way for a healthy, balanced life. Your coach can also tune in to the language you use to describe yourself, your life circumstances, both past and present, and your future. The language you use is a strong indicator of the level of self-esteem you are experiencing right now.

As your self-esteem improves, you'll notice you are more focused, more organized and more able to take action. You'll be able to create strategies, plans and structures to achieve your goals more easily. Procrastination will be a thing of the past. What once pushed you past overwhelm will no longer intimidate you.

Maybe you have self-esteem issues rearing their ugly heads in your relationships. Do you often feel jealousy, especially in the context of romantic relationships? Are you struggling with finding or staying in a romantic relationship? Do you feel too stressed and vulnerable to make good decisions? Maybe you are still recovering from the break up of your last romantic relationship and you want to firm your boundaries and learn to trust again. Wherever you find yourself feeling badly about yourself, a self-esteem issue exists.

If you are tired of living on automatic pilot and want to take charge of your life to create the happiness you've spent all this time looking for, then a personal self-esteem coach might be the right choice at this place in your life.

Power within self confidence through hypnosis

Ever wonder why some people do not find it hard to feel confident? If you must know, confidence is basically a state of mind. Before you feel confident, you think about being confident. Surprisingly, you can easily learn about being confident. For starters, you should stop trying to become someone you are not. To be confident, you must be comfortable with who you are and accept your limitations. By doing this, you can act naturally and you will not have to worry about pretending.

Being confident is a lot of hard work. No one is born with it and it takes a serious amount of commitment and dedication to become confident. Being confident can improve your work ad personal life. You will be able to make presentations to large groups of people and speak with important clients. On the other hand, it would require a certain level of confidence to introduce yourself to a stranger or ask someone on a date.

Another important factor in confidence is determining your strengths, skills and talents. If you know these, you can trust yourself to accomplish your tasks properly. Funnily enough, there are people who have all the skills in the world but fail to use them because they are overcome by anxiety or nervousness.

If you are one of these people who have problems with confidence, the first thing you should do is to learn to manage this anxiety. You can try a few self-help techniques such as deep breathings, stretching or meditating. These would slower your heartbeat and help you focus on more important things. Meditation is an effective way to relax your mind as well as your body, ridding yourself of negative thoughts and feelings.

If these are not effective, then you might have a more serious problem that would require professional help. Psychotherapy can help build your confidence by determining and managing the reasons for your anxiety and fear. You could be suffering from low self-esteem because of things that you have experienced before. It is also possible that your anxiety comes from expecting too much from yourself. Whatever the reasons are, psychotherapy can help.

Another fast and effective way to treat anxiety is through hypnotherapy. It usually involves being hypnotized and the hypnotist will alter your behavior by making suggestions to your subconscious. It is believed that the subconscious is more receptive to changes than your conscious mind.

New age spirituality - inspirational stories part 29

When that existence becomes relative, we see it as the world; that knowledge becomes in its turn modified into the knowledge of the things of the world; and that bliss forms the foundation of all true love known to the heart of man. Therefore true love can never react so as to cause pain either to the lover or to the beloved. Suppose a man loves a woman; he wishes to have her all to himself and feels extremely jealous about her every movement; he wants her to sit near him, to stand near him, and to eat and move at his bidding. He is a slave to her and wishes to have her as his slave. That is not love; it is a kind of morbid affection of the slave, insinuating itself as love. It cannot be love, because it is painful;if she does not do what he wants, it brings him pain. With love there is no painful reaction; love only brings a reaction of bliss; if it does not, it is not love; it is mistaking something else for love. When you have succeeded in loving your husband, your wife, your children, the whole world, the universe, in such a manner that there is no reaction of pain or jealousy, no selfish feeling, then you are in a fit state to be unattached.

Krishna says, "Look at Me, Arjuna! If I stop from work for one moment, the whole universe will die. I have nothing to gain from work; I am the one Lord, but why do I work? Because I love the world." God is unattached because He loves; that real love makes us unattached. Wherever there is attachment, the clinging to the things of the world, you must know that it is all physical attraction between sets of particles of matter -- something that attracts two bodies nearer and nearer all the time and, if they cannot get near enough, produces pain; but where there is real love, it does not rest on physical attachment at all. Such lovers may be a thousand miles away from one another, but their love will be all the same; it does not die, and will never produce any painful reaction.

A piece of the puzzle

Most people consider “achieving wealth” as a mystery. It is thought that the management of money requires a particular talent that most of us feel was left out of our genetic make-up! We believe that it takes a certain type of person; an expert in number-crunching, or someone who has some special gift of financial insight to understand how to tackle the money mission.

This intrigue, or fear, does little to boost the confidence of one who really does want to understand, and participate, in the wealth puzzle.

Are you aware that (statistically) the average person retires with a net worth of approximately $40,000 (home equity not included)? That is after having worked about 40-something years! Not a lot to brag about considering how many long, hard hours were toiled to achieve a yearly average of roughly $1,000 (about $80 a month)!

If that $1000 a year had been put to work in a wealth building program, such as real estate mortgage notes, the amount of money in the “nest egg” would be alarmingly different!

Just imagine not having to worry about money; your financial independence is not just a dream it’s now an attainable reality!

It’s never too late to turn the tide, regardless of how hopeless things appear to be for you right now. Assemble the pieces of the money puzzle. Recognize, and maximize opportunities when they arise.

SET A GOAL!

Write them down, and keep them realistic.

ESTABLISH A GAME PLAN!

Consider a wealth building program that you feel comfortable with.

DEVELOP MOTIVATION, DISCIPLINE, AND PATIENCE!

Focus, Dedication, Desire and Perseverance.

OVERCOME YOUR FEARS AND HESITATIONS!

Those not making mistakes are the ones not doing anything.

ABOVE ALL BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

It’s time to take ACTION!

The secret of self-hypnosis

What can a person do to attract more success in their life? What if they want to let go of a habit, chronic pain, fear or phobia, or they want to manage their weight or stop smoking? Any one of these and a host of other issues can either be helped or resolved through the power of the subconscious mind.

The subconscious makes up the majority of the human mind. And since that is where our habits and emotions are, the subconscious is where true change occurs. The best way to communicate with the subconscious mind is through hypnosis, either with a certified hypotherapist or with self-hypnosis. After all, most hypnotherapists would agree that “all hypnosis is self-hypnosis”. This is due to the fact that the individual is always in control.

Self-Hypnosis can be practiced daily, assisting individuals in creating positive change in their life. The steps for self-hypnosis include relaxation and visualization, in addition to using positive thoughts to create the positive change. In fact, the mind is not motivated to make the change when negative words are used such as “lose” weight, or “quit” smoking. It is more beneficial to use positive words such as smoke “free” or “ideal” weight.

Self-hypnosis should be done when a person is alert, and they are able to relax without falling asleep. They begin by taking deep breaths and slowly counting from five to one as they feel themselves relaxing. A positive thought is focused on such as: “I am happy, healthy, and at my ideal weight”, as they imagine themselves in a peaceful place.

After several minutes of repeating the thought, the person will become alert again by counting from one to five and saying to themselves “when I open my eyes, I will feel alert and refreshed”. As a result of practicing self-hypnosis, an individual will not only reduce stress, they will bring about positive change.

Self confidence build yours today

Having a lack of self confidence of a low self esteem can affect nearly all areas of your life. If can affect you while out with friends, while giving a presentation and while meeting new people, to name but a few. Confidence issues can be brought about for many different reasons and over time they become so common place that we just expect them to happen. If you are dealing with confidence issues at the moment you will understand just how it can affect your life and sometimes even stop you from doing things that you really want to. Some people allow it so affect them in getting a promotion or meeting new people do. I have met people that still haven’t found a husband or wife in their 40’s as they say that they are just too shy. I have put together a list of some of the tips that I give to my clients to help them regain their confidence.

1. Surround yourself with positivity… Positive, enthusiastic and passionate people are contagious. Surround yourself with them and allow their confidence to brush off on you. By being around positive people we will learn how they confidently deal with things in their life that would throw us off course.

2. Create a new image… This is a fantastic tip that will leave you feeling great. Go out and get a whole new image that oozes with confidence, new clothes, new hairstyle or better posture. When you have this new image you can act up to it with confidence and allow the new you to be born.

3. Watch what you say to yourself… We all talk to ourselves as we think about things. We say things like, ‘Oh I can’t afford that!’ This type of inner talk can be quite negative as it closes our mind to finding a solution. Instead saying something like, ‘How could I afford that’, allows you to use your brain for thinking and ultimately finding a solution.

4. Make a change… Move career, house or make new friends. If you find that an element of your life is causing you lack if confidence – change it! Remember though that you set the limit on what is impossible, so open up your mind and consciously decide what you can and can’t do rather that just relying on your emotions to make these decisions for you.

I hope that you put this small collection of tips to good use and get the confidence that you deserve and desire. I wish you the very best of luck and success.

Compulsive lying the intervention

Lying is common to people. Fear from a reprimand is the usual reason why people lie. But this cannot be referred to as compulsive lying. If a person lies because of a constant perceived punishment, it becomes compulsive lying. Lying with the belief that it is the truth despite being confronted with the truth is what normally characterizes compulsive lying.

Reasons why people lie on impulse are usually due to habitual lying. Some may lie because they see that other people do it and still get away from it. Lying becomes a normal thing to do that it comes out impulsively in some instance. While some believe that lying would help them get what they want. When lying becomes a habit, it is now referred to as compulsive lying.

Although it is a fact that children lie, compulsive lying, though, must be concerned about. This ultimately results in suspicious and doubtful parents while children become more uncontrollable and dishonest. Once compulsive lying and mistrust starts, stopping it would be near impossible.

It should also be considered that lying may be a sign of a graver problem. Compulsive lying is prevalent among children who have problems with social behaviors such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Mood Disorder (presence of manic or severe depression manifested in intermittent episodes). Such children also exhibit impulsivity which makes them prone to lying.

Compulsive lying typically comes with other behavioral problem like theft, deceit, violence, bad temper, miss classes, persistently losing things, and poor manners in social settings Problems like impulsivity, an obvious failure to connect consequences with actions, distraction and uneasiness in social circumstances may be at the heart of lying.

Initiating a process of viewing why a child lies, and finding the aid needed in stopping the compulsive lying. To help stop compulsive lying the intervention of an experienced therapist who can work with children is advised. Such therapist would be able to give parents particular parenting way and a profound comprehension of the dilemma they face. The child will also be granted, and be associated with medical professionals giving the needed assistance.

Punishment may also work in minimizing compulsive lying because it is intended to diminish a learned conduct. However, punishment does not teach and strengthen an alternate manner. Punishment devoid of love and careful explanation is an ineffective means, and most often lead to injustice and exploitation.

The beauty of learning french

There are many things a person can learn in his entire lifespan and among many things is learning foreign languages. Other than a person’s native language, learning a new one wouldn’t be too difficult although people may encounter problems and difficulties on the process of memorization and pronunciation. This isn’t a rare problem though, most people experience this common draw backs but memorization in its simplest sense has remedy to any aspect of learning which does not exempt a person from learning another language.

French is one language that sound and look completely different from the English language although there are several words that have been coined and recognized commonly now by more people everywhere. French can become very confusing but the struggle in memorizing the language will only last on the first few lessons. When you master the basic lessons, there’s no stopping you from learning more about the language.

But how do you really learn quickly? What you could do is learn word by word. Carrying a language dictionary will help you understand more about each word although it’s not recommended to rely on a dictionary alone. Also, repetition of words should be highly avoided during memorization. Instead, learn to associate the word to its equivalent English meaning and then picture the two words in one scene for easier recognition.

The first time you come across a French word for example, try to remember its spelling and pronunciation. It’s also important not only to know what a word means but how to pronounce it the proper way. If it’s still not working, then use the method mentioned on the previous paragraph.

The method is popularly known as the Link-Word technique. It works as simple as A, B,C but you have to keep in mind that there’s no easy task to a person who doesn’t want to learn. Now, we pick a word from the French language for this example. Let’s use the word ham from the English language which means jambon in French.

What you need to do is to associate both words in one scenario which you can easily remember. For example, let’s think of a fat happy ham chasing a bunch of jumbo bread buns across the hallway. As you try to picture the situation, your mind incorporates the English and French words together. Even if we didn’t use the literal French word jambon, but since the word jumbo sound a lot like the French word for ham, the two words are now linked. This is how a linkword technique works and it’s even said to work better if the illustration that is associated to the words is funnier and frivolous.
